Zurich 2019/20
How we got there: As always booking far in advance will help secure those Z-designated business class tickets. Paolo opted to fly from Montreal for the same pricing though it's important to note that the business class hard products flying out of Montreal tend to be those that have not yet been retrofitted to newer cabins.Flying out of New York the non-stop option from JFK -Zürich could not be beat; especially when traveling with skis and boots. Delta flies their own product on this routing and to my surprise the aircraft was a 767- retrofitted with their new delta one design. For those of you who may be familiar with the Delta One Suites the set up here is almost identical sans the closing suite door. The configuration is a 1-2-1 and unless you really like to travel right next to your loved ones I suggest even numbers on the single aisle row (4D) was a great option.
Expert tip: the flight to Zurich is short at a flight time of about 7 hours. Opt for the "Dine and Rest option" which if done efficiently will have you ready for bed about 30-45 minutes after take off allowing you to get a solid 5:45 minutes of sleep.Where we stayed: trying to load up on our Bonvoy nights we opted for the Renaissance Zurich Towers. The hotel is clean and crisp and has all that you need for a quick transit stay. The rooms were well appointment, updated and the gym was solid. The primary reason for choosing this hotel was also its close proximity to the central train station that we will need to access to head to Zermatt.

This hotel is definitely on trend now with a happening lobby, a chill bar and restaurants.https://www.25hours-hotels.com/en/landingpages/zuerich-langstrasse
Dining in Zurich: we only had three days in Zurich but we managed to find three great places for dinner.Insider tip: if it still exists when you get there as the bartender for the "A simple as Francis" cocktail.
Alexis Restaraunt and wine bar: stumbling into this venue on our first night we had an absolutely diving schnitzel. Only later did we realize it was one of the top Schnitzel places in the city (#5 to be exact).
Josef: a recommendation from our wonderful concierge this place exuded cool. The venue has a funky vibe ( think Berlin), cool mixed crowd and the 5 course tasting menu was divine beginning to end! We will be back!

Restaurant Zeughauskeller: Ranked the #1 schnitzel in the city (according to trip advisor) this massive venue is housed in one of the oldest buildings in the city which served as an armory. The food was great but I'm not so sure it was my favorite schnitzel. Please note reservations were already full but we walked in and got seated (on a Saturday night) within minutes.
