Liguria 2019
The coastal region of North-Western Italy boasts quaint tows, picturesque hills and wonderful dining.
How we got there: From Nice we were able to make our way to the Genoa airport using the Italian train services. The trip is approximately 3 hours total and does require one train change. From the Genoa airport and car rental services are readily available. The drive to our Villa was 45 minutes.Where we stayed: This year we found our Villa (The Luxury Panorama) on Airbnb and it truly did not disappoint https://abnb.me/v5LSQ4mqoZ Hidden high in the hills just above the town of Rapallo ( 15 minute drive) and approximately 30 minutes from Portofino. The Villa had two bedrooms upstairs both with air condition one of which has an ensuite bathroom, an adjoining kitchen, living room and dining space. The lower level had one bedroom with an ensuite bathroom. The living space was a fusion of rustic meets Italian. The outdoor areas included a beautiful pool with the most stunning vista and a barbecue and lounge area.

[wpvideo LsjGKjiH ]What we did: Morning strolls in town, afternoons at the pool; and exploring the surrounding towns. We had the opportunity to explore Rapallo, Portofino and Santa Margherita.Rapallo: was by far our favorite of the towns with its medium size, easy navigability and liveliness provided a genuine Italian experience.

Santa Margherita: A small quaint and picturesque town offered a nice escape for a few hours of exploration.
Portofino: While it may get all the fame and glory, Portofino seemed to be the most pretentious of the towns. In a small stretch of space you will find high end shops the like of Dior and Louis Vuitton which surround a stretch of dining venues. While it is nice to see the yachts docked in its port visiting once was more than enough for us.

Panificio Pastticceria Tossini

Ostaria vecchia Rapallo: not pictured above but the walnut sauce pasta was to die forIf I had one recommendation for where to dine it would be to escape the towns and head high into the hills to La Mela Secca for an Agriturismo experience. Amazing vistas and delicious foods. Don't think about it.. just go!
